After a seven-hour evacuation time, Morse- and Mermentau Cove-area residents are being allowed to return home at this time. An evacuation was ordered due to a gas leak at about 8:15 a.m. Friday, April 17. The gas leak to several hours to take on.
The following was released by the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office via Nixle alert: An evacuation is underway in the Mermentau Cove/Morse area due to a gas leak. Those living in a one mile radius of LaFosse Road and Everglade are being asked to turn off the gas in their homes and leave them at this time.
The Crowley Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance to locate a wanted fugitive. Algernon Wilson, 29, of Crowley is described as a black male, 5 feet 9 inches in height, weighing 195 pounds with short hair. His last known address is 524 Moore Ave. in Crowley.
