Representatives of the Southern Eye Bank and the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency were guests of the Crowley Lions Club Tuesday, speaking on the importance of cornea and organ donation. On hand for the meeting were, from left, Nancy Loewer, program chair; Joy Fragola, Southern Eye Bank; Suzanna Morton, LOPA; and Patti Lawrence, Lions Club president.
An estimated 114,000 people across the United States — about 2,000 of them in Louisiana —are currently awaiting life-saving organ donations. About 22 of them die every day.
In less than two hours, nearly 900 boxes were filled with vitamin-enriched, dehydrated meals for the less fortunate Saturday.
The IT program in the Secretary of State’s office is on the cutting edge of any other department in the state, and voter security in Louisiana is among the top in the country.
