As the new town of Crowley began to develop, there was a push to encourage people to come and make a home here. Many came from neighboring St. Landry Parish as well as other parts of Louisiana.
Continuing the history of Crowley’s rice mills:
Cotton. The word brings up visions of endless fields of white polka-dotted plants. Or maybe of sack-dragging families handpicking the crop under the broiling sun.
