John Warner Smith named new state poet laureate
The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) and Governor John Bel Edwards have announced that Louisiana’s newest poet laureate is John Warner Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. Polite Doucet of Crowley celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Mrs. Doucet is the former Evelia Abshire.
