Tim, Barbara Touchet honored on 50th wedding anniversary

Tim and Barbara Touchet of Mire were honored on Friday, June 21, duirng a 50-year wedding anniversary celebration held at Fezzo’s Restaurant in Scott.
Hosts for the special occasion were the couple’s five children, Jason Touchet, Kevin Touchet, Necolas Touchet, Jennifer T. Vincent and Kerri T. Lemaire.
Mrs. Touchet is the former Barbara Potier, daughter of the late Frank and Vinis Bertrand Potier of Gueydan. She is a retired teacher following 37 years of employment.
Mr. Touchet is the son of the late J.A. and Alberta Touchet, also of Gueydan. He is also retired following 49 years as a medical technologist.
The couple was married on June 21, 1969, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Gueydan.
Wedding attendants were maid of honor Ellen Hebert (sister of the bride), best man J.A. Touchet (father of the groom), Patricia Potier (sister of the bride), Lynn Fassel (friend of the bride), Young Woods and Raymond Adams (friends of the groom).
They are the parents of five children, Jason Touchet and wife Mia, Kevin Touchet and wife Marleney, Necolas “Moose Touchet and wife Hollie, Jennifer Touchet VIncent and husband Courtney and Kerri Touchet Lemaire and husband Josh.
The Touchets are also the proud grandparents of Kyle, Kennedy, Kendal, Kenzie, Josie and Ruby Touchet, Luke and Jules Vincent and Charlee Lemaire.
A “golden” theme was held for the golden anniversary celebration. Gold-draped tables were noted throughout the reception area, along with pictures of the couple’s wedding day.
The centerpiece of the decor included a golden tree with small, clear illuminated globes hung from its many branches. Bands of golden ivy draped the background.
Refreshments provided for aproximately 50 guests included fried fish, pork and sausage jambalaya, corn machoux, parmesan green salad, a selection of golden-covered sweets, and a variety of beers and wines.
The anniversary cake was a stylish white confection including three, double layers accented with gold filagree and topped with a gold number “50.”
Guests attended the golden celebration from Lafayette, Gueydan, Duson, Jennings, Lake Charles, Scott, Youngsville and Port Arthur, Texas.
Special guest in attendance was Fr. Mike Arnaud, pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire. He was invited as a special friend of the couple and annointed the couple and their family with a special blessing.
The couple was presented a special gift from their five children, a 16 x 20 reproduction of their wedding portrait including a collage-styling of 800 snapshots of the Touchet and Potier families.
