RHS diamond action continues for Wolves, Ladies

RAYNE - During a Monday afternoon softball contest at Gossen Memorial Park, the Lady Wolves of Rayne High hosted Church Point.
A three-run fifth inning by the Lady Bears gave Church Point a 4-1 lead which they held for the final score and win.
Limited to only two hits, Rayne High was lead by Lexi Marks and Kassidie Bourgeois, with Bourgeois scoring the lone Rayne High run.
Taking the loss on the mound for the Lady Wolves was Tatum Comeaux who recorded three strikeouts but gave up eight hits and two walks.
The Lady Wolves are schedule to travel to Ville Platte on Thursday to meet Sacred Heart of Ville Platte in a 4 p.m. contest, followed by a trip to St. Julian Park in Broussard for the South LA Softball Challenge Tournament on March 6-7.
They will return to Rayne’s Gossen Memorial Park on March 9 to host Southside High School.
Wolves
The Rayne High Baseball Team knotted up their early season at 3-3 during a road contest on Saturday, Feb. 29, against South Lafourche during the Cecilia Tournament.
The Wolves fell 6-9 in the third game of the tournament. Rayne capture a 15-3 win over Church Point in the second round, but fell 2-7 against Ascension Episcopal in the first round.
During a home game on Wednesday, Feb. 26, the Wolves scored a 2-1 win over Cecilia High in a final inning rally.
Rayne’s first score of the ballgame came on a sacrifice hit by Tucker Babineaux who scored Reid Dupont from third.
With the game tied at 10all in the bottom of the last inning, Landon Richard hit the winning RBI when he scored Derek Istre for the 2-1 win.
Colin LaCombe went seven innings on the mound for the Wolves collecting seven strikeouts and allowing just one run on five hits.
Also collecting hits for the Wolves during the win were Ethan Theriot and Chetwin Coleman, while Deuce Comeaux led the base running with two stolen bases.
The Wolves are slated to attend the Convington Tournament Feb. 6-7, followed by a home contest on Feb. 10 when they will host Opelousas Catholic.
