Hensgens re-elected; Abraham, Cloud appear headed for state Senate posts

Three state Senators represent portions of Acadia Parish and races were held in each of those seats Saturday.
In Senate District 25, formerly h eld by term-limited Dan “Blade” Morrish, Mark Abraham appeared headed for victory in the three-candidate race at press time.
According to the Secretary of State’s website, Abraham had 54 percent of the vote with 98 percent of the precincts reporting.
Kevin Berken was second with 24 percent and John E. “Johnny” Guinn was third with 22 percent.
In District 26, Bob Hensgens was re-elected with 79 percent of the vote to challenger Jerry Gaspard’s 21 percent with 100 percent of the precincts reporting.
In District 28, with 95 percent reporting, Heather Cloud had 63 percent of the vote. Robert Johnson was second with 23 percent and H. Bernard LeBas was third with 14 percent.
