Sodality of Mary celebrates 75 years at St. Leo IV Catholic Church

ROBERTS COVE - The Sodality of Our Lady of Peace of St. Leo IV Roman Catholic Church in Roberts Cove celebrated 75 years of prayer and service.
The anniversary observance began with a Holy Mass of Thanksgiving at 9 a.m. at St. Leo IV Catholic Church.
The Sodality of Mary participated in the Mass procession by carrying the Sodality banner, a portrait of Our Lady of Peace, and a bouquet of white roses which was placed at the alter of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Main celebrant for the Holy Mass was Fr. Paul Broussard, Pastor and Sodality Chaplain, along with Deacon Joshua LeBlanc assisting.
Prefect Ava Didier read the Prayers of the Faithful while Madalyn Reiners and Alyson Hebert carried the Gifts of bread and wine in the Offertory Procession.
At the conclusion of the Holy Mass, Fr. Broussard presented Ava Didier, Ann Louise Cramer, Alayna Hebert, Madalyn Reiners and Alyson Hebert (current members) with a special commemorative Miraculous Medal in honor of the 75th anniversary. Moderator Charlene O. Reynolds assisted with the presentations.
Each of the Sodalists were also presented a certificate by Fr. Broussard marking the occasion that occurs during the Centennal Year of the Diocese of Lafayette.
The St. Leo IV Sodality of Mary was established in 1943 under the patronage of Our Lady of Peace when 20 young ladies attended the first scheduled meeting; thus, forming the charter membership.
Rev. Cosmos Schneider, SVD, was the pastor of St. Leo IV Romand Catholic Church at the time, and he became the first chaplain of St. Leo IV Sodality of Mary.
