The new banners hung along Historic North Parkerson Avenue recognize Crowley as the home of the John Melvin University Millers. Different banners note the various athletic teams at the university — baseball, softball, football, soccer, etc. — along with the academics offered there. JMU was founded in Crowley in 2021 as a Christ-centered university in Louisiana. The first classes at John Melvin University were held in the fall of 2022.
