Author and historian William Thibodeaux talked about Acadia Parish of yesteryear recently at the Acadia Parish Library. Over the years, Thibodeaux, a native of Rayne, has collected stories from railroaders of various crafts and departments. Those were the first stories he began publishing in several local publications. Thibodeaux continues writing mostly non-fiction articles with historical significance to the Acadiana area. He interviews interesting people in both French and English, and manages a French table in Rayne where their events were first audio-recorded.

Students in the Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish Ag Department recently harvested their fall vegetables. Students cared for broccoli and cabbage plants for the last few months, and after the harvest, had a chance to cook what they picked from the garden. Clockwise from top right, Adam Signorelli, from left, Ava Yates, Mary Himel, Ellen Cormier and Mariana Guinn show off some of the harvest from the Ag Department’s garden; Meg Dorr poses with some of the larger cabbage plants in the garden; Jack Cassedy serves up a “vegetable medley” to Mary Himel as Hudson Hollier looks on; a sample of success.
