Gearldine “Gerri” Breaux

SULPHUR - The Lavergne and Acosta families are announcing the passing of their beloved Gearldine (Gerri) Breaux, 59, born November 6, 1959, and passed away on May 27, 2019, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in the care of the wonderful ICU nurses.
Gerri was raised in Rayne, attained her GED and graduated college with a CNA degree. She worked at several nursing homes, provided private duty and was employed as a cab driver for her brother, Tony Lavergne.
Gerri was the most God-loving, caring person who would have given her last pair of shoes to the needy. She assisted at her church, Open Door in Sulphur. While struggling with her treatments, Gerri took time conselling others at the unit and praying for them. Even att her last moments, she always said “Thank You, Sorry, It’s Ok.”
Gerri is survived by her best friend (sufficent other of eight years) Ken Acosta of West Lake; her sons. Manny Thibodeaux and wife Shawn and Kevin Breaux; daughter, Edith Lavergne; stepchildren, Nanette Lonkows and husband David and Harry Acosta and wife Sara; grandchildren, the dearly loved Tori Areneaux, Sha Arceneaux and wife Heather, Laney Thibodeaux, Colin Thibodeaux, Kiki Lavergne, Jasper Lavergne, Gage Thibodeaux, Jackson Thibodeaux, Megan LeFrere and husband Nick and Jacob Lonkowski; great-grandchildren, Grayson Thibodeaux, Olivia and Cathrine LeFerere; brothers, Tony Lavergne and Joespher Lavergne and wife Marie; sisters, Gloria Comeaux, Cynthia Comeaux and husband Kenneth, Joyce Richard and Mary Melancon; her best friend, Caroline Robinson; and numerous neices, nephews, great and great-great.
She was proceded in death by her parents, John and Edith Abshire Lavergne; brothers, John Lavergne Jr. and Charles Lavergne; sisters, Victoria Lavergne, Gale Broussard and Glenda Arcement; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Marie Latiolais, Andrew Richard, Clovis Melancon and David Acosta; great-niece, Malorie Comeaux; nephews, Kenny Quibodeaux and Vernice Lavergne; nieice Brandii and child Hunter Arcement.
A Vigil will be held Saturday, June 15, at 2 p.m. at Open Door Bikers Church located at 423 W. Burton Street in Sulphur with all friends and family welcomed to attend.
