Lettie L. Beverly-Curtis

RAYNE - Lettie L. Beverly-Curtis, 78, was born March 11, 1939, in Maxie, to the late Daniel S. Beverly Sr. and Eva M. Coleman Beverly.
On July 14, 1967, she was united in holy matrimony to Shelton Curtis Sr. She was a member of the sisterhood of The Eastern Star Chapter and a member of The Mission of Star Light Baptist Church of Rayne.
She worked for The Chatteau Nederland Apartments for several years, also worked for the Acadia School District in Rayne (Martin Petitjean Elementary).
Lettie was a member of Star Light Baptist Church upon moving to Texas, then she became a member of First Sixth Street Baptist of Port Arthur, Texas.
On Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at 1:30 p.m., the Lord called home His beloved child from the battlefield. Now she is at peace with no more pain and/or suffering. Lettie can rest easy in her new eternal life and resting place.
Lettie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Shelton Curtis Sr.; and her son Ron K. Beverly Sr.; six brothers, Rev. Daniel S. Beverly Jr., August Beverly, Joseph Beverly, Landolph Beverly, George Beverly and Aaron Beverly; seven sisters, Grace Jackson, Elizabeth Green, Viola Babineaux, Mary Johnson, Lillie B. Roberts, Georgia M. Beverly and Annie M. Julian; also a beloved best friend/sister Laura J. Rose.
Lettie leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Eva M. Guillory of Texas City, Texas; three children Joshua D. Curtis (Kathleen) and Lydia P. Pete, both of Port Arthur, Texas, and Rev. Christopher D. Curtis (Lisa) of Rayne; one goddaughter Francis E. Bias; 12 grandchildren, Jerret Williams, Ron K. Beverly Jr., Brandon Beverly (DeWanda), LaShawntae’ J. Curtis (Kendrick), Roneshia Monique’ J. Beverly, LaQueda Wiltz, Dasia Gray, Marceshia Gray, Alexis Gray, Diamond Gray and Shaquita Huff, all of Port Arthur, Texas, and Kristija A. Curtis of Rayne; eight great-grandchildren, Byrson Beverly, Brighton Beverly, Alise Williams, Kyren Huff, Ma’Kyia Thomas, Kaia L. Huff, Ju’elz Gray and Khayse Gray, all of Port Arthur, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Starlight Baptist Church in Rayne, with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.
Burial will follow in Community Gardens Cemetery in Rayne under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home, 2500 Procter St., Port Arthur, Texas 77640.
