George Reginald Hayes
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Nazarene Church in Crowley for George Reginald Hayes, age 94, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at The Ellington in Rayne.
Pastor Barry Stephens, pastor of Ebenezer Nazarene Church, officiated the services.
The family welcomed visitors at Ebenezer Nazarene Church on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.
Burial followed at Indian Bayou Community Cemetery.
George was a native and lifelong resident of Indian Bayou. He was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict.
He opened Hayes Carpet & Floor Covering in Crowley, which he owned and operated for over 50 years. His dedication and commitment to the business exemplified strong values to his children, who fondly remember working with him.
George was a member of Ebenezer Nazarene Church and was happy to lend a hand in construction of the church building. He was very active in his church, singing in the choir and in the quartet as well as serving on the church board for many years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing when he had the chance. George will be remembered for his fun-loving nature and his immense faith in the Lord.
He is survived by one daughter, Suzanne “Suzie” Broussard and husband Darren; three sons, Michael Hayes and wife Mary, Kim R. Hayes and Christopher Hayes and wife Laura; 17 grandchildren, Erin Martinez and husband Joel, Jared Broussard and wife Isis, Chad Hayes, Eric Hayes and wife Megan, Blake Hayes and wife Chelsea, Robert McBeth, Laura McBeth Vetter and husband Brad, Emma Grace Hayes, Abigail Hayes, Alyson Soileau and husband Ross, Saul Hayes, Nathan Hayes, Kayla Campbell and husband Dakota, Christian Hayes, Emma Renee Hayes, Chloe Pettigrew and Zachary Pettigrew; and 12 great-grandchildren, Kaleb Hayes, Raylan Hayes, Raiden Hayes, Vincent McBeth, Logan Hayes, Luna Vetter, Alina Martinez, Ada Martinez, Jackson Hayes, Vivian Hayes, Addison Campbell and Aspen Campbell.
He is preceded in death by one son, Shawn Hayes; his first wife, Emma Jean “Jeanie” Dronet Hayes; his second wife, Karen Petry Hayes; his parents, Reginald Hayes and the former Grace McCall; three sisters, Myra Hayes Hollier, Betty Hayes Butaud and Dorothy Hayes Cormier; and one brother, Richard Hayes.
Serving as pallbearers were Chad Hayes, Eric Hayes, Blake Hayes, Jared Broussard, Saul Hayes and Christian Hayes.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert McBeth and Nathan Hayes.
Arrangements were entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
William Andrew Habetz Jr.
Rayne - Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 28, at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for William Andrew Habetz Jr., 85, who died Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, at Amelia Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette.
Interment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Mausoleum in Rayne.
Very Rev. Brent Smith, VF pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and conducted the funeral services.
Survivors include his companion of 24 years, Ruby Melancon; three daughters, Renee Habetz Patin and spouse Michael Patin, Elizabeth Habetz Speyrer and spouse David Speyrer, and Marisa Habetz Weber and spouse Hans Weber; 10 grandchildren, Kyle Patin and spouse Hannah Patin, Lance Patin, Joseph Speyrer and spouse Melissa Speyrer, Taylor Castille, Thomas Castille and spouse Sydney Castille, Matthew Speyrer and spouse Olivia Speyrer, Victoria Fusilier and spouse Blake Fusilier, Madeline Weber, Christian Weber and Carson Weber; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; four sisters, Martha Pierret and spouse Paul Pierret, Doris Carmouche and spouse Henry Carmouche, Mildred Matte, and Mary Alice Pastor and spouse Michael; two brothers, Harold Habetz and spouse Priscilla Habetz, and Milton Habetz.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Jeanette Richard Habetz; parents, William Andrew Habetz Sr. and Clothilde Borne Habetz; two sisters, Lorette Richard and spouse Robert Richard, and Janet Fontenot and spouse Joey Fontenot.
Pallbearers were Kyle Patin, Lance Patin, Joey Speyrer, Taylor Castille, Tommy Castille, Matthew Speyrer, Christian Weber and Carson Weber.
A Rosary was prayed Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.
The family had requested visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
