Rayne High roundball district action

Both the Wolves and Lady Wolves basketball teams collected wins on Friday, Jan. 25, during home contest against Westgate High.
The Wolves outscored the Tigers 87-72 for the district win, bringing Rayne’s district slate at 3-2 mid-way through the district season.
Rayne High’s offense was lead by four players hitting double figures.
Dylan Gibson led the Wolves with 19 points, followed by Antonio Cormier with 17, a dirty dozen for Lance Smith and a dozen by Dylan Menard.
In girls’ action, the Lady Wolves collected a 56-28 win over the Lady Tigers on the backside of their district schedule.
The Lady Wolves stand at 2-4 in district.
Rayne-STM
During Monday night action, the Wolves and Lady Wolves hosted St. Thomas More.
In boys’ action, four Wolves hit double digits on the night, but it wasn’t enough as the Cougars pulled out a 64-51 district win.
Hitting double digits for the Wolves were Dylan Menard and Jamarcus each with 11 points, while Leon Smith and Dylan Gibson tipped in 10 each.
STM outpaced the Wolves in the final quarter of action with 16 points for the win.
In girls’ district action Monday evening, the Lady Wolves were outscored 74-40 by the state-ranked Lady Cougars.
Top scorers for the Lady Wolves were Torionna Charlot with 12 points and Braille Washington adding 11.
Completing the Rayne scoring were Paige Figaro, Anastasia Dixon and Tyanne Moseley each with four points.
Alidia Cormier and Kelsey Kelly each added a trey to complete the limited Rayne scoring during the contest.
Both squads will host Teurlings Catholic on Friday, Feb. 1, at the RHS north gym.
Boys and girls action will begin at 5 p.m. with boys’ junior varsity, girls’ varsity and boys’ varsity in play.
