CROWLEY – The Fast N Furious Track team, headed up by Crowley native Jeremy Garrett, will once again be well represented in the Junior Olympics in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The local team qualified 11 athletes in six events to participate in the prestigious event that begins on July 30 and runs through August 6 at North Carolina A&T University.
Crowley High standout Makaya Damon headlines the group by qualifying in three different events. She will participate in the 800-meter run as well at the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay events along with teammates Maleigh Grant, Aliyah Hunter and Jalizayne Jones.
Jamyron Garrett and D.J. Joubert will both participate in the 3,000-meter racewalk and Tyrese Hunter will compete in the discus.
The 13-14-year-old 4x400-meter relay team of Olivia Chavis, Treasure Savoy, Jaden Garrett and Malan Butler will also be in action as well.
The team is currently having fundraisers to help offset the cost of travel and lodging for the trip. Those wishing to make a donation can contact Jeremy Garrett at 337-514-9182.
