The Acadia Parish Cooperative Extension Service, which includes 4-H and Agriculture and Natural Resources programs conducted throughout the parish, is dependent upon a 2.12-mill tax that was defeated in the Dec. 8 election. The millage expires at the end of 2019 and the Acadia Parish Police Jury is expected to put the proposition back on the October or November ballot.
One of the largest 4-H programs in the area will be severely impacted if voters do not approve a 2.12-mill tax renewal next time it is offered.
