Solitic Club honors first responders for Patriot Day

Last week members of the Crowley Solitic Club delivered goodie baskets to city and parish law enforcement officers, EMTs and paramedics and firefighters to thank them for their service to the community.
The club met and put the baskets together on Wednesday, Sept. 11, which is Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance, before gifting them to the first responders on Sept. 12.
Agencies receiving goodie baskets included Acadian Ambulance, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Dept., the Crowley Fire Dept., the Crowley Police Dept. and Med Express Ambulance Service.
The Crowley Solitic Club consists of 30 talented and professional women who dedicate their time and efforts to promote literary awareness and serve the civic needs of the community. The club was established in 1958 and since then has devoted numerous hours and proceeds to local charities and events in the area. Jingle Bell Noel is the club’s largest fundraising event. It is a family-friendly event held every year in December and all proceeds are given back to the community in the form of scholarships and donations to charitable causes.
