C.P. juvenile sentenced in rash of thefts, burglaries

A Church Point juvenile has been sentenced for his part in three vehicle thefts and several vehicle burglaries here.
Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux said in a news release, “With the assistance of the 15th Judicial District Court Juvenile Division, a 15-year-old juvenile has been sentenced and placed into custody with the juvenile system until his 18th birthday. This juvenile has been stealing bikes and breaking into vehicles taking guns and other items for the last several months.
“We have also received several calls where this juvenile threatened and was pointing guns at other adults and juveniles. This juvenile had a previous record for several thefts and had previously been on probation.
“This juvenile was involved with 20-plus thefts and burglaries and is suspect in many more.”
Thibodeaux said his department will continue to work with the District Attorney's Juvenile Division to curb juvenile crime in the area.
“We also will continue to charge those parents who are responsible for their child’s behavior,” Thibodeaux said. “If you look around us, juvenile shootings and juvenile crime are up all around our area. We will continue to use every law to prevent this from happening in our area as much as possible. When these shootings happen, most of the time it’s innocent people and innocent kids who get hurt or killed.”
