Groundbreaking held for new St. Michael School Pre-K 3
Groundbreaking ceremonies were held this week for a new building to house St. Michael School’s new Pre-K 3 program.
Sandi Doré, principal, said the program will be in place for the 2021-2022 school year.
After intense research and planning, the construction of a brand new 2,303-square-foot facility is underway and expected to be completed by August.
The Pre-K 3 building, which will be located just outside and north of the original wing of the school, will house two separate classrooms, each with its own bathroom facility and ample storage. A separate, fenced in playground area specifically designed for Pre-K 3 children will adjoin this new facility, making it a safe environment for children to play and learn.
“St. Michael School’s Pre-K 3 program will be a place for children to grow in knowledge of God’s love for them and in love and concern for them and others,” said Doré. “God’s world opens up for children of this age as they are filled with wonder and curiosity. The Pre-K 3 environment will be warm and inviting with dedicated, experienced teachers whose main goal is to make learning fun and exciting through play.”
Not only will the students begin to build foundational skills that will pave the way for academic success, but they will also learn social and emotional skills that will contribute to their overall success in life, according to Doré. “A child’s first experience with school sets the stage for a lifetime of learning.”
Currently enrolled St. Michael families who are interested in registering a child for Pre-K 3 next year may do so during “In House Registration,” which is scheduled for Feb. 1 through 4. Any new family wishing to enroll a child in Pre-K 3 – 7th grade may do so on “New Student Registration Day” on Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the school cafeteria where the COVID 19 mask mandate and social distancing will be adhered.
