Advisory council members with the Crowley Boys and Girls Club accepted a check for $30,000 from the Acadia Parish Police Jury recently. The funds were available through the ARPA grants issued by the federal government to local agencies during the COVID pandemic. Each juror recommended how the money should be used in each of their districts, and Walter Andrus (Police Juror District 1) graciously selected the future club as one of the beneficiaries. At the presentation were, from from left, Mary Zaunbrecher, Tracy Wirtz, Andrus, Rhyan Wheeler, Nicole Broussard and Lee Lawrence; back from left, Brian Borill, Rich Hughes and Brian Ford. “We appreciate Mr. Andrus’ support of the Crowley Boys and Girls Club,” said Council Chair Tracy Wirtz. “The support of everyone who has invested in this effort is vital to the mission of having a place where our children can feel safe and thrive. We look forward to opening the doors in the Fall.” To make a donation to the Crowley Boys and Girls Club, visit bgcacadiana.com and click “Donate.”
