During the American Legion 2023 7th District Spring Conference held at Post 15 in Crowley on Sunday, March 5, 7th District Commander Edward Hutchins Sr. (right) and 7th District Vice Commander Sam Doucet (second from left) recognized the three 7th District Legionnaires who were nominated for the 7th District M.C. “Mike” Gehr Blue Cap Award as the outstanding legionnaire in the district among legionnaires who have never held elective office above Post level. Recognized were Kelly Miseles (left) from Post 1 in Lake Charles, David Simon (second from right) from Post 77 in Rayne, and Timothy Smith (not pictured) from Post 144 in Oberlin. Simon was honored as the 7th District Award winner for 2023 and is now in contention for the state-level award to be presented at the American Legion state convention in June.
