The Crowley Art Association recently had a drawing for a community quilt designed and fashioned by Dana Leger. During the 2021 Arts in the Park, participants decorated a fabric quilt square using the theme “Art in the Heart of Crowley.” Leger then constructed the community quilt on behalf of CAA. Thanks goes to Church Point Wholesale for their sponsorship and help in material purchases. From left are Kathy Lejeune, quilt winner, and Leger, quilt artist.

Jones said the students “have really taken” to the program. He explained that teachers distribute “Star Bucks” to the students as rewards and, those Bucks add up until the student can use them to “purchase” a token for a book in the machine. “It’s replaced candy as a reward,” Jones said. “That’s surprised a lot of us.”

Duson Police and Fire are working with Lafayette Fire Hazardous Materials Unit and Louisiana State Police Haz Mat Units to contain an overturned tractor-trailer rig that has closed the I-10 East bound exit ramp at La. 92 in Duson. The rig is leaking acrylic acid, police say. Please avoid the area.

An overturned tractor-trailer rig closed the I-10 East bound exit ramp at La. 92 in Duson early Monday morning.

As of 1 a.m. early Tuesday morning, the exit ramp was re-opened.
