Claudette Olivier said she was raised to duck, dove and rabbit hunt, and she has hunted from Sabine Lake to Des Allemands to Dewey Wills Wildlife Management Area. Olivier started going duck hunting with her late father, Craig Olivier, when she was eight years old.

Louisiana State Newspapers Editor Claudette Olivier grew up on her dad’s family’s rice farm in L’Anse aux Pailles and comes from a long line of hunter-farmers.

Six area families will enjoy Thanksgiving dinner complete with all the trimmings — including dessert — thanks to the generosity of the staff of Encore Healthcare and Rehabilitation of Crowley in cooperation with the ASSIST Agency of Acadia Parish. The food was delivered to ASSIST in multiple containers recently to be sorted and delivered to “those most in need,” said Cory Gatte, administrator.
