Post-season begins for Rayne High Wolves, Ladies
Faith House to hosts “The Clothesline Project” to raise awareness for survivors of violence

Co-Chairmen Linda Ancona and Becky Servat hold schedules for the Rayne Garden Club’s 2026 Spring Flower Show and Plant Sale slated for Friday, May 1, at the Bernard-Bertrand House between the hours of 12-4 p.m. Admission is free to enter and enjoy the floral designs, horticulture exhibits and light refreshments. This year, a plant sale will be held during the flower show including the sale of colorful annuals, seasonal perennials and potted plants at a reasonable price. All proceeds of the plant sale will benefit the projects completed by the Rayne Garden Club during the year. Public is invited to attend.

Highlighting a special ceremony held Wednesday, April 8, at the Le Vieux Presbytére Museum was the unveiling of a special sign made in honor of Church Point musician/Grammy Award winner Chubby Carrier, who, by the look on his face, was caught by surprise with the honor. A copy of the sign will be placed at the entrances to the town of Church Point as announced by Mayor Spanky Meche, right, emcee of the event.
Chubby Carrier honored during museum exhibit re-opening

During the April meeting of American Legion Arceneaux Post 77, Commander Blaine Dupont and District officers made award presentations to Rayne High’s Betty Mutoji on earning first place at the local, district and state level of the 2026 American Legion Oratorical Contest. She will now represent Louisiana at the 2026 National Oratorical Contest slated in May in Hillsdale, MIchigan. Taking part in the presentations were, from left, District 7 Commander David Credeur, Betty, Dupont and Department Vice Commander and Event Chairman Dennis Hart.
