Lady Dogs fall to Elton in North Vermilion tourney

LEROY - Vici Woods and Summer Ceaser proved to be too much for the Iota Lady Bulldogs Wednesday in Elton’s final game of the North Vermilion Lady Pats Thanksgiving Classic.
Woods and Ceaser combined for 41 points to lead the reigning Class 1A state champions to a 55-43 victory over the Lady Dogs.
Iota (2-2) fell behind 15-11 in the first quarter before Elton began to pull away in the second frame.
Woods poured in 10 of her game-high 22 points and the Indians outscored the Lady Dogs 19-11 to take a 34-22 cushion into the break.
The lead grew to 45-29 after the third quarter before the Lady Dogs outscored the Indians 14-10 in the final frame behind eight points from Kendall Miller.
The Lady Dogs were also hindered by foul trouble for starters Avery Young and Andriana Curtis and both fouled out late in the game.
Miller led the Lady Dogs with 13 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds and picked up four steals.
Young followed with nine points before picking up her fifth foul. Lilly Zaunbrecher and Curtis each added six points, Colleen Johnson had five and emily Hebert finished with two.
Northwest tops Lady
Rebels in STM tourney
LAFAYETTE - The Midland Lady Rebels closed out tournament play at St. Thomas More Wednesday with a tough 60-33 loss to Class 3A Northwest.
Lizzy Habetz, Emma Boudreaux, Hailey Seaux and Sage Wimberly each scored six points for the Lady Rebels in the loss. Catilyn Boudreaux added five points and Marlie Boudreaux and Myra Carlson each scored two.
The Lady Rebels opened tournament play with a 47-30 victory before falling to West Monroe in their second contest.
Lady Pios fall short
in TCHS tourney
LAFAYETTE - The Notre Dame Lady Pios played well, but came up just short in all three of their games at the Teurlings Round Robin earlier in the week.
The Lady Pios dropped their opener to the host Lady Rebels, 49-35, and then lost to Catholic High of New Iberia, 38-33. They closed out tournament play Wednesday with a 39-25 loss to Opelousas Catholic.
Unfortunately, no other information was available on those games.
