Lady Warriors rally past Iota to remain perfect
IOTA – The Northside Christian Lady Warriors remain unbeaten on the season after rallying past Iota Monday to claim a 3-1 victory over the Lady Dogs on their home court.
The victory sent the Lady Warriors to 6-0 on the season heading into last night’s home contest against Crowley High.
The Lady Dogs (5-3) battled for a 26-24 victory in the opening set but dropped the next three, 25-15, 25-20 and 25-15, to end the match.
The Lady Warriors were led by sophomore Kamrie Breaux and senior Brooke Guthrie.
Breaux logged seven kills, four digs and a block and Gutherie had five kills, nine digs and three blocks.
Defensive specialist Rory Thibodeaux led the team in digs with 51.
Freshman Kate Daigle added 28 digs and one kill; junior Brylynn George had 19 digs and one kill; junior Riley Armstrong tallied 30 digs, one kill and five assists and senior Abigail Perry had 18 digs, two kills, one ace and two assists.
No stats were available for Iota as of press time.
CHS falls short
The Crowley Ladies fell to 0-2 on the season Monday with a 3-1 setback to Hamilton Christian.
The Ladies dropped the first two sets, 25-14, 25-22, but rallied to extend the match with a 25-22 victory in the third set.
The visitors closed out the match one set later with a 25-18 victory.
Jocelyn Marceaux and Kennedi Stelly paced the Ladies with six kills each and Sophia Fontenot had five.
Marceaux also had two aces, two blocks and eight digs, Stelly added six aces and nine digs and Fontenot recorded four aces, two blocks and three digs.
In addition to the leaders, Tamyeia Guillory added three kills, five aces and eight digs; Kenaria Hudson had one kill and six digs and Kayla McCoy had one kill and two digs. Also logging digs were Hannah Abshire (4) and Olivia Vincent (2).
Lady Pios log wins
NAPOLEONVILLE – The Notre Dame Lady Pios improved to 5-1 on the season over the weekend with a pair of victories over Lutcher and H.L. Bourgeois in the Assumption Tournament.
Lily Morgan was the leader for the Lady Pios with 16 kills, 11 digs and one block in the two games.
Gabby Cates and Melise Maloz each added six kills and Andrus Kelbaugh had five kills and three blocks. Cates also had four blocks.
Sydnie Dailey was the leader in assists (40) and digs (19). She also recorded three aces and three blocks.
Natalie Brown had 18 digs and one ace and Morgan Alleman had 12 digs and one ace. Maddie Murrell and Jean Claire Schmid each had three aces.
