Warriors fall to Family Christian

The Northside Christian Warriors had another tough night on the hardwood Monday.
Playing yet another top tier opponent, the Warriors didn’t have the firepower to keep up with No. 2-ranked Family Christian in a 75-54 setback at Seth Trahan Memorial Gym.
The Flames improved to 18-8 with the victory.
The Warriors fell to 4-22 and had their losing streak extended to nine straight games.
The Warriors opened District 6-C play last night at Hackberry but results of that game were not available as of press time.
On Monday, the Warriors had no answer for junior guard A.J. Mercier.
Mercier poured in 19 of his game-high 31 points in the first half and helped the Flames sprint out to a 33-19 advantage at the break.
The Warriors got five points from Landon Istre in the opening frame and trailed just 13-9.
Mercier poured in 10 points for the Flames in the second frame and the guests doubled up the Warriors (20-10) to push the lead to 14 heading into the intermission.
Carson Tweedel hit his first of four 3-pointers in the second quarter. All seven of the Warriors other points came from the free throw line.
Tweedel dropped in two more long balls in the third quarter and Andrew Woods scored four points but the hosts were still outscored 18-16.
The Warriors had six players score over the final eight minutes and had their highest offensive production with 19 points.
The Flames answered, however, with a 24-point outburst, to seal the victory.
Tweedel paced the Warriors with 20 points. Istre followed with nine points and Jake Morgan scored eight.
In addition to the leaders, Andrew Woods and Jagger Thibodeaux each scored six points, Caleb Hanks added three and Joseph Woods finished with two.
The Warriors return to league play next Tuesday when they play host to Johnson Bayou at 6 p.m.
