Ann Marie Stoma of Crowley and Beau Michael Dugas of Cankton were joined in holy matrimony at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley on Saturday, Oct. 8.
Fr. Mikel Polson officiated the 6:30 p.m. nuptials.
The bride is the daughter of Richard and Lisa Stoma of Crowley. She is the granddaughter of Joe B. Stoma Jr. and the late Marie Gani Stoma of Crowley, and of the late Richard W. Quebodeaux Sr. and the late Merle Ozan, both of Bridge City, Texas.

Georgia Kate Dugas, daughter of the bride and groom, was escorted into the church by Brock Conques and held by her father while her mother walked down the aisle.
Entering the church on the arm of her father to the strains of “Trumpet Voluntary,” the bride was radiant in a gown of beaded Venice lace and  tulle. The delicate hand-beaded Italian lace bodice featured scalloped lace tank sleeves, while the tulle trumpet skirt cascaded down into a graceful chapel train.
For her headpiece Ann selected a mid-length veil with an embellished comb, and she carried a hand-tied bouquet of fresh white hydrangeas, white roses and white tea roses.
Victoria Stoma, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Brittany Dugas and Taylor Mamer, sisters of the groom; Courtney Hebert, cousin of the groom; and Jill Luno, Bree Beard and Lesi Angelle, friends of the bride.
The bridal attendants were clad in long, one shoulder lace dresses in pale pink and carried hand-tied arrangements of white hydrangeas and white roses.

Dane Istre, friend of the groom, served as best man. Standing as groomsmen were Ricky Stoma Jr. and Brad Stoma, brothers of the bride; Steve Mamer, brother-in-law of the groom; Chas Boudreaux, future brother-in-law of the groom; and Brandon Briscoe and Rusty Carriere, friends of the groom.
Ushers were Trevor Stoma, cousin of the bride, and Tyler Hernandez, cousin of the groom.
The groom’s attendants, along with the ushers, wore French blue suits with pale pink ties and pocket squares.
The fathers of the bride and groom, the groomsmen and the ushers all wore boutonnières of small white hydrangeas.
Tucker Hernandez, cousin of the groom, served as ring bearer.
Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Linda Kidd and vocalist Jodi Bollich.
Selected scriptures were read by Laura Rowe Ward, godmother of the bride, and Lisa Duay Rader, aunt of the groom.
Following the wedding, family and friends joined the newlywed couple for a reception at Le Grand Hall in Crowley, where guests enjoyed an evening of dancing and food served buffet-style.
The venue was beautifully decorated by the bride’s family in a rustic theme. Elegant arrangements of fresh hydrangeas and gladiolus were made by the bride’s aunt, Patricia Sinclair of Austin, Texas.
The bride’s cake was a four-tiered confection decorated with delicate white roses. It was made by Wanda Broussard of Lafayette, a relative of the groom.
The groom’s three-tiered chocolate ganache cake was decorated with white icing and topped with chocolate-covered strawberries.
On the evening prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Dugas, Dayna Dugas and Brock Conques at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Cullen.
The bride is a 2009 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and is presently a stay-at-home mother.

The couple is making their home in Carencro.

Wolves dominate Washington-Marion, 48-24

District win, looking towards post-season play

RAYNE - From the very first play of Friday’s district contest against the Indians of Washington-Marion Magnet High School, fans knew it was going to be a high scoring contest. And that it was.
The Wolves claimed a 48-24 district win over the Indians, keeping Rayne in a three-way tie for the 3-4A district crown and a certain return trip to post-season play.
“It started off a little bumpy at first,” stated Rayne Head Coach Curt Ware of Friday’s win over Washington-Marion, “but, a win is a win,” referring to a few missed tackles and special team play early on in the contest.
“We collected ourselves, got our heads back in the game and started scoring,” Ware continued.
On the first play of the ballgame following the kickoff, Washington-Marion’s Jacobi Taylor connected with Jared Clark for a 65-yard touchdown pass for a quick 6-0 Indian lead.
But that was short-lived and was WM’s only lead of the game.
Rayne answered with a 90-yard kickoff return by Trent Winbush for a touchdown. The extra point by Darian Richard placed the Wolves up 7-6 and they never looked back.
The first quarter closed with a touchdown pass from Donald “T-June” Doucet to Jaylon Reed from 32 yards out. The extra point was just wide and Rayne led the Indians 13-6 entering the second quarter.
Another touchdown pass by Doucet in the opening minutes of the second quarter saw a 21-yard completion to Winbush. Richard hit the extra point for a 20-6 Rayne lead.
On the kickoff by Doucet, Robert Owens found a seam down the sideline for an 86-yard touchdown return for the Indians. The extra point saw the Wolves maintain a 20-12 lead with plenty of time remaining in the first half.
And the Wolves took advantage of all that time by touching the endzone three more times in the first half of play.
Darien Harmon ran in a 26-yard touchdown midway through the second quarter for a 26-12 Rayne lead.
Ending a drive from mid-field, Doucet punched in a touchdown from the one-yard line. Doucet also hit the endzone corner for the two-point conversion to extend a 34-12 Rayne lead.
Next was a bit of deju vue on a Rayne kickoff as WM’s Tavin Gricer hit a mid-field seam for a 60-yard touchdown return. The extra point was wide and the Indians tried to narrow the score at 34-18.
But, they were denied by the Wolves.
Doucet found Reed once more for a toouchdown, this time a 70-yard run up the middle of the field. Richard’s extra point split the uprights for a 41-18 Rayne lead as both teams headed into the halftime break.
The second half saw each team score once more with most underclassmen seeing action.
The Wolves’ second half score came in the third quarter as Doucet went for a pitch out, but instead, hit the left side of the ballfield for a 21-yard touchdown run. Another Richard extra point put the Wolves up, 48-18.
Washington-Marion’s second half score came in the last minute of the ballgame with a quarterback TD run by Taylor from four yards out. The extra point took the score to the final 48-24 Rayne win.
Doucet had two rushes for 22 yards and two touchdowns for the Wolves.
Leading Rayne’s rushing game was Winbush with 18 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns.
Wolf Darien Harmon had 14 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Completing Rayne rushing stats were Johnny Deculit (6-48) and John Daigle (2-6).
“I think once we cleaned things up, we had a good game,” Ware continued. “You don’t score 48 points by playing a bad game.”
Rayne collected over 400 total offensive yards during the win.
The Wolves’ passing game saw Doucet connect with eight completions for 127 yards.
Rayne receivers were led by Jaylon Reed with two receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
Trent Winbush finished up the passing game with two receptions for 27 yards.
Rayne defenders held the Indians to only 125 total offensive yards (72 passing and 53 rushing).
Antonio Gabriel and Tony Roberts led Rayne tackles withfour each, along with thre solos. Roberts tallied two tackles for a loss, as did Marlon Foreman.
Darian Richard, Torin Benoit, Richard Breaux and Tyreece Beverly each collected 2.4 tackles, along with two solos for the Wolves. Breaux turned in two tackles for a loss.
Completing the Rayne defense stats were Carl Davis, Tyler Carriere, Ron Roberts and Cameron Gibson. Roberts also managed a tackle for a loss.
Ware continued, “We still have some things to work on. There’s always something you can improve. We’ll take a look at things and continue to improve for next week.”
With Friday’s big win, Rayne now stands at 9-1 overall and 3-1 in district, tied for the district lead with Leesville and LaGrange. Each team will see their final game of the regular season next week.
Rayne will travel west just down Highway 90 to Crowley where they will face long-time, intra-parish Crowley High. Kickoff is 7 p.m. for the district game at Gardiner Memorial Stadium.
