Patsy Magnon Pierce

Funeral Services for Patsy Magnon Pierce, 80, will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Duhon Funeral Home-Crowley Chapel with Deacon Byron Winn officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. and will resume on Thursday at 8 a.m. until just prior to the time of the service. Interment will follow the funeral service and will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Pierce passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at The Cottages at Clear Lake North in League City, Texas.
Mrs. Pierce was the Business Manager of Rayne Branch Hospital and Home Health prior to her retirement and loved spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed many years of sewing and crafting and spent countless hours doing for others. She was also an active member of the Woodman of the World, American Legion and VFW with her late husband Wallace Pierce; enjoyed playing Mrs. Claus at Christmas with her husband as Mr. Claus for the Woodmen of the World and the community.
She is survived by her daughter, Carmen Capel and husband Mark of Galveston, Texas; son, Byron Pierce of Kenner; grandchildren, Candace Vavela (Mike Varela), Christina Cope (Travis Cope), Alana Spencer (Luke Spencer) Corey Pierce, Mark Capel Jr. and Brennan Pierce; great-grandchildren, Michael Varela, Braden Cope, Arden Cope, Piper Varela, Payton Varela and Corey Pierce; sisters, Alberta Atcheson (Bob Atcheson - brother-in-law) and Claudia Guidry (sister-in-law).
Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace J. Pierce, son, Audney Pierce; parents, Henry Magnon and Florence Magnon Blum; brother, Carol Magnon; and daughter-in-law, Susan Pierce.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Mark Capel Jr., Brennan Pierce, Candler Atcheson, Corey Pierce, Michael Varela Jr. and Hunter Atcheson.

Nolia F. Atkinson

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Ebenezer Church of the Nazarene Church in Ebenezer for Nolia F. Atkinson, 88 who passed away at her daughter’s home in Morse on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at 3:20 p.m.
Pastor David Young, Pastor of the Ebenezer Church of the Nazarene Church will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Ebenezer.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Ebenezer Church of the Nazarene Church in Ebenezer. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 9 a.m.. until time of services all at the church.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda and husband Charles Darrell Jacks of Morse; two sisters, Leelice Fontenot of Baton Rouge and Leddie Fontenot of Evangeline; one brother, Lovelace Faulk of Salinas, California; two grandchildren, Lauren Breaux, Brent and wife Jada LeDoux; two step-grandchildren, Hampton and wife Katie Jacks and Megan and husband Kenny Fontenot; 14 great-grandchildren.
Ms. Nolia enjoyed spending time doing yard work, caring for her flowers and fruit trees. Spending time with her grandchildren was a pure joy for her. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Ms. Atkinson was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Atkinson; her parents, Odion and Dora M. Faulk; and one great-grandson, Taylor Braquet.

Heath “Smurf” Murphy

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Geesey-Ferguson Chapel for Heath “Smurf” Murphy, 43, who died Nov. 12, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Hospital in Lafayette.
Rev. Gerard Morgan will be officiating the services. The family is requesting visiting hours be held Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. Interment will be at Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Heath is survived by his two children, Colby and Kylie Murphy of Crowley; one grandson, baby Kason Michael; his mother, C C Iglinsky Lafrades and her husband Val of Corona, California; his father, Michael Murphy of Crowley; two brothers, Aaron Murphy of Crowley and Dustin Murphy and his wife Kamri of Fontana, California; his fiancé Susan LeJeune of Egan; one nephew, Aaron Michael Murphy of Crowley; and one niece, Alexis Murphy of Prairieville.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Paul and Shirley Iglinsky; and his paternal grandparents, T.C. and Ethel Murphy.

Barbara Ann Gautreaux Trahan

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016, for Barbara Ann Gautreaux Trahan, 70, who died November 11, 2016, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours be held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. Interment will be held at Abshire Cemetery.
Mrs. Barbara is survived by her husband, Shelvan “Shine” Trahan of Kaplan; four sons, Wayland and his spouse, Caullet of Dry Creek, Raymond and his spouse, Kathy of Rayne, Curley and his spouse, Chris of Austin, TX, and Jeffrey and his spouse, Karen of Crowley; one sister, Patricia Signorelli of Crowley; two brothers, Robert Gautreaux of Fort Worth TX, and Ronald Gautreaux of Norfolk, VA; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Curley Gautreaux and Mary Mire; her stepmother, Dorothy Gautreaux; her step-father, Wines Mire, and one brother in law, Tony Signorelli Jr.
Pallbearers will be Dominique Trahan, Raymond Trahan, II, Jeffrey Trahan, Jr., Timothy Trahan, Jared Medus, and Lee Sipe.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mykey Menard, Corey Trahan, Nick Gehrig, and Greg Short.

Edward Ray Faulk

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for Edward Ray Faulk, Sr., 82, who died November 12, 2016 in Crowley.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  A rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. Monday.   Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mr. Faulk was born in Crowley and resided there all his life.  He was a member of the U.S. Army, and a farmer for 60 years in Acadia Parish.  
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Dale Dupre Faulk of Crowley; two daughters, Selene F. David and her husband, Dean of Lake Charles, and Jane F. Wise and her husband, Marc of Seattle, WA; three sons, Ray Faulk, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, Kelly Faulk and his wife, Dena, and Joe Faulk all of Crowley; one brother, Mitchell Faulk, twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Faulk is preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Anita Jeanis Faulk; three brothers, Harry, Leeward, and Lloyd Faulk.

Richard Lewis ‘R.L.’ Wright

Richard Lewis “R.L.”  Wright passed away November 11, 2016 at Southwind Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Crowley, LA at the age of 87.
He was born in San Antonio, TX.  In 1942, at the age of 14, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1946.
R. L. was married to Lodell Boultinghouse on February 23, 1945.  Together they had two children.  They made their home in Agua Dulce, Texas until 1964 when they moved to Crowley.  They were married 55 years when Lodell passed away.
Most of his working life was spent working in the oil and gas industry.  He retired from Occidental Petroleum as Division Production Superintendent.  When not working, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting and traveling.
R.L. was a member of the Masonic Lodge.  Recently he received the honor of having been a member for 65 years.  He was also a proud member of the American Legion for many years.  
He is survived by his daughter, Kaye Hall and her husband, Carroll of Crowley, LA; his son, Tim Wright and his wife, Karen of Katy, TX; two grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Pagonis and Travis Wright; his nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.  
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; five brothers; two sisters; and many other loved ones and friends.  
His family wishes to thank the entire staff and the residents of Southwind for caring for and loving him during his stay with them.  
Visitation will be at Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Calallen, TX on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Immediately followed by a Masonic Rites graveside at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, Texas.

Mary Ann Smith Hanks

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Mary Ann Smith Hanks, 72, who died Thursday Nov. 10, 2016, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Fr. Michael DeBlanc, associate pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley will be officiating the service. The family is requesting visitation hours be held from 8 a.m. til 10:45 a.m. Monday.
Mrs. Hanks is survived by her two sons, Gilbert R. Hanks of Crowley and Stephen Kirk Hanks of Los Angeles; one niece, Delores Duhon of Kaplan; two nephews, Preston and Daniel Duhon, both of Rayne; one godchild, Corey Perry of Crowley; and one sister-in-law, Cecile A. Spallino of Crowley.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert J. Hanks; her parents, Francis and Evelyn Smith; one sister, Rouge Duhon; one brother, Dan Smith; and one niece, Beverly Duhon.
