Anna Joyce Benoit

Mass of Christian burial for Anna Joyce Benoit, 79, of Morse will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morse, LA on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Father Clint Trahan officiating. Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral Mass. Anna will be laid to rest in LeBlanc Cemetery. Carrying Anna to her final resting place will be Kyle Benoit, Caleb Lougon, Casey Bertrand, Heath Abshire, Bryan Benoit, Bryce Benoit, and Blayden Thibodeaux.
Anna was born in Midland on July 13, 1937 to Marc Penn and Mamie Comeaux Penn. She was called to her Heavenly Father on June 9, 2017. Anna was a homemaker who dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She loved French Music, watching TV, cooking, doing search word puzzles, embroidering, and working in her flower gardening. Anna was a kind and loving person she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Anna is survived by her two sons, Roger Benoit of Morse, Otis Benoit, Jr. (Alishia Hope Whittington) of Crowley; her four daughters, Becky Cormier (Jeffery) of Mermentau, Anna Benoit Hebert of Klondike, Priscilla Babineaux (Alan) of Jennings, Patricia Lougon (Chris) of Gueydan; her brother, James Penn (Chris) of Midland; her sister, Admarie Broussard (Herbert) of Midland; her 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, as well as one more on the way.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents, Marc “Shug” and Mamie Penn; her beloved husband, Otis Joseph Benoit, Sr.; one sister, Grace Broussard; four brothers, Dorsey, Fred, Crawford, and Ray Allen Penn; her son-in-law, Freddie “Bobby” Hebert.

Linda Trahan Abshire

Funeral Services will be held for Linda Trahan Abshire, 50, at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 12, 2017 in the Duhon Funeral Home- Crowley Chapel with Pastors Jamie Tyler and Pastor Zachary McCann officiating. Visitation will begin on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and will resume on Monday at 8 a.m. until just prior to the time of service. Interment will follow the chapel service and will be in Abshire Cemetery. Mrs. Abshire passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, James Abshire, Sr. of Crowley; children, Anthony J. Abshire, Jr. and his wife, Lacey of Eunice, Breanna Abshire and her fiance’, Taylor Matthews of Crowley; grandchildren, Kylee Abshire, Tay’Lynn Matthews, Karlee Abshire, Kynlee Abshire and Beckett Matthews; siblings, Charles Trahan and his wife, Debra of Crowley, Brenda Romero of Crowley, Daraleen Welch of Crowley, Randall Trahan and his wife, Tamica of Crowley,, Greg Bertrand of Crowley, David Trahan and his wife, Roxanne of Milton, Cynthia Trahan and her boyfriend, Wesley LeMaire of Crowley, Scotty Trahan and his wife, Nancy of Crowley and Timothy Trahan of Crowley as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Abshire was preceded in death by her parents, Angellas Trahan and Olida Deaville Trahan; brother’s in law, Arthur Romero and Melvin Welch.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Trahan, Thadius Reagan, Brandon Romero, Quintin Trahan, Quinton Istre, Kyle Romero, Nathan Trahan and Tyler Trahan.

Edward Boudreaux

RAYNE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Boudreaux, 93, was held on Tuesday, June 13, at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne. Father Kevin Bordelon, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, served as celebrant.
Committal services and entombment with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army and the Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2 Mausoleum in Rayne.
Family members received friends on Monday, June 12, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, with a rosary being recited by Deacon Tommy Adams and the Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. Visitation continued on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Mr. Boudreaux passed away on June 10, 2017, at Southwind Senior Living Suites in Crowley. He was a loving husband, father, and brother, and a good friend to many.
Born on Feb. 13, 1924, son of Maurice and Aline LeBlanc Boudreaux, Mr. Boudreaux is survived by his sons, Rodney Boudreaux and wife Debbie, and Glen Boudreaux; daughters, Linda Braus and husband Daniel, Arlene Mathews and husband Jeffrey, Gayle Thibodeaux and husband Randall, and Lorraine Meche and husband Kevin; sister, Marie Amy; sister-in-law, Verna Denais; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mr. Boudreaux in death were his loving wife of 67 years, Bernice Desormeaux Boudreaux; his parents, Maurice and Aline LeBlanc Boudreaux; daughter-in-law, Nellie LeJeune Boudreaux; brothers Maurice Boudreaux, Warren Boudreaux, and Wilson Boudreaux; sisters, Beaulah Guidry, Eunice Arceneaux, Lena Trahan, Bernice Robin, Lula Mae Gary, and Letha Navarre; and great-granddaughter, Makenzy Payton Marchand.
A lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, Mr. Boudreaux attended Rayne High School. He served as a member of The Greatest Generation in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. He took part in many offensive campaigns, including at Normandy, Northern France, The Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Central Europe, Rhineland, and the European Air Offensive. We all owe a debt of gratitude to he and all the rest who sacrificed so much for our freedoms.
Upon his return from the war, Mr. Boudreaux met the love of his life, Bernice Desormeaux. They were married in 1946, and had six children.
Mr. Boudreaux was in the furniture business for over 60 years. He began his career at Rayne Furniture Store, and later moved on to Delta Furniture in Lafayette. His career ended with retirement from Albarado’s Fine Furnishings. Mr. Boudreaux had met the Albarado family at the start of his career, and soon became a part of their family, as they became a part of his.
Mr. Boudreaux enjoyed fishing in his spare time, but his greatest joy in life was caring for and spending time with his family.
As a member of American Legion Post 77, Seventh District, for 52 years, Mr. Boudreaux was honored with the Blue Cap Award. He was also given the honor of being selected to represent the City of Rayne as the 2000 Golden Frog Festival King, and was named Outstanding Male of the Year by the Rayne City Council of Beta Sigma Phi.
Mr. Boudreaux’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his neighbor and friend, Dr. Mark Dawson, and also to Dr. Joseph Brierre, for not only the medical care given, but for the warmth and compassion shown to him.
The family would especially like to send an abundance of thanks and love to his Lamm Hospice caregivers, Kristy Putnam and Marissa Sonnier, for the love and support they gave to Mr. Boudreaux, as well as to all of his family members. We would also like to thank the staff and residents of Southwind Senior Living Suites for welcoming and caring for him during his stay.
Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Boudreaux, Kalil Boudreaux, Brent Boudreaux, Eric Marchand, Cade Fontenot, and Adam Meche.
Named as honorary pallbearers were Michael Albarado and Matt Albarado.
Beth Thibodeaux and Erin Fontenot delivered the readings, and Amanda Ohlenforst and Monica Serrette served as gift bearers.

Prostitution charge filed in massage parlor arrest

Prostitution charges have been filed in an arrest at a local massage parlor.
Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly said officers executed a search warrant at Asian Spa Massage Parlor at 1405 The Boulevard at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 7.
The action followed a week-long investigation for prostitution related offenses, according to Stelly.
Officers arrested Zhou Xinfeng, 64, a permanent resident from the People’s Republic of China. Xinfeng was charged with prostitution by massage.
Stelly said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

Deborah G. Henry

RAYNE - Funeral services for Deborah G. Henry, 59, of Rayne, were held on Saturday, June 10, at 2 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne.
Reverend David Baudoin officiated. Entombment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2 Mausoleum in Rayne.
Visitation was held on Friday, June 9, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home and continued on Saturday, June 10, from 8 a.m. until service time in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Henry passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017, in a Lafayette hospital.
Mrs. Henry faithfully attended Crossroads Church in Lafayette. She enjoyed photography and traveling, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with and caring for her family, especially her granddaughter, Annalyn.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of over 40 years, Michael Henry of Rayne; daughter, Brooke Henry Rinaudo and husband Anthony of Shreveport; sister, Lynette Gandy Plattsmier and husband Chris of Mire; granddaughter, Annalyn Rinaudo of Shreveport; niece, Jaime Gandy of Lafayette; mother-in-law, Janell Henry of Rayne; sisters-in-law, Jeannie Henry Petitjean of Birmingham, Alabama, Josie Henry of Rayne, Vickie Henry of Naples, Forida, Susan Henry LeBlanc and husband Stephen of Marietta, Georgia, and Debra Henry of Sulphur; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Mrs. Henry in death were her daughter, Heather Nichole Henry; her parents, James and Hilda King Gandy; father-in-law, Eugene J. Henry; and grandmother, Ludy Caldwell.

Delia Trahan Beaugh

Church Point - It is with great sadness that the family of Delia Trahan Beaugh announces the passing of their mother at the age of 99 on June 8, 2017, at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home.
She was born on March 9, 1918, to John Trahan and Emitile Credeur Trahan.
She is survived by four children: Phoebe Trotter, Anna Theriot and her husband Ken, Jeanne Menard and her husband C.J., and Gerard Beaugh and wife Leta. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Samantha Theriot Guidry and Andre Theriot, Josh Menard and Natalie Menard Lyttle, Amanda Beaugh LaGrange and Emily Beaugh Rhinehart.
These grandchildren produced 12 great-grandchildren: Caroline and Camille Guidry, Riley and Sadie Menard; Avery, Emma, and Jackson Lyttle; Olivia and Henry LaGrange; and Andrew, Daniel, and James Rhinehart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacques (Jack) Beaugh; her parents; seven brothers, Eddie, Emile, Dennis, Ursin, Leo, Irby, and Edmond Trahan; one grandson, Stephen Mark Beaugh; and one son-in-law, William (Bill) Trotter.
Mrs. Beaugh graduated as valedictorian from Rayne High School in 1934 at the age of 16, then earned a teaching degree from then SLI. She taught three generations of schoolchildren in her 37-year career at Branch Elementary, and is remembered with great fondness for secretly communicating with many of them in French when they could not yet speak English.
She lived a life of quiet dignity and grace, instilling in her children and grandchildren a great fondness for reading, cooking, and coping with problems by laughing rather than by crying and complaining.
She served for years as lector and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was awarded the Msgr. Clay A. Bienvenu Award for service to her church and community.
The family would like to express their thanks to her special friend and roommate, Mrs. Jocelynn Lejeune; and the staffs of Heart of Hospice and Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home.
Visitation was at Guidry Funeral Home on Friday, June 9, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m., then again on Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Pallbearers were Josh Menard, Andre and Ken Theriot, Leo Trahan Jr., Mark Broussard and Lance LaGrange.

Thomas Bernard Forte

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Saturday, June 10, 2017 at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove for Thomas Bernard Forte, 67, who died June 7, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette after a brief illness.
Fr. Bill Ruskowski, associate pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in St. Leo Cemetery in Roberts Cove, LA.
Tom was born in White Castle, LA. He graduated from Ascension Catholic High School in Donaldsonville, LA in 1967 and always kept a strong bond with his classmates through the years. He was a Vietnam veteran and served his country honorably for two years. Wishing to continue a life of service, he pursued a degree in nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette formally known as U.S. L. It was here that he first became friends with Deb, his wife to be. As a nurse, Tom followed his true passion of being a comforter for the sick, and a great communicator. He was an intensive care nurse at Baton Rouge General Hospital for over ten years. Yearning to further his education, he obtained a master’s degree in nurse anesthesia from Xavier University. He started his anesthesia career at Oschner Hospital in New Orleans and then transferred to St. Michael’s Hospital in Texarkana, TX retiring several years ago . His nursing career spanned over thirty-six years. Tom’s tender heart and caring hands touched countless lives and families throughout the years.
He was proudest of his Italian heritage, with a little German and Irish mixed in. Tom was truly gifted, and well-traveled. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman. His personal attributes were many, including an unrelenting generosity, a great listener, and an amazing breathe of wisdom. Tom was an inspiration to many, and strived to find the best in everyone he met. His inner drive and commitment to his family and friends will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years Debra Zaunbrecher Forte of Roberts Cove; one stepson, Christopher Tassin and his wife, Danielle of Roberts Cove; two sisters, Linda Forte Tannerhill and her husband, Willie, of Simsboro, LA, and Eleanor Forte “Becky” Himel of Donaldsonville, LA; two brothers, John Nathan Forte and his wife, Lynn of Walker, LA, and Vincent Rosario Forte, M.D. and his wife, Lana of Monroe, LA; six nieces, Amy Tannerhill, Wendy Glass, Holly Cavalier, Heidi Theriot, Bobbie Lott, and Sheila Rhodus; and six nephews, Michael Tannerhill, Huey Himel, Jr., Nathan Forte, Jr., Jess Forte, Michael Forte, and James Forte.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Eleanor “Fundy” Funderburk Forte; his brother-in-law, Huey P. Himel, Sr.; and one nephew, Willie Ray Tannerhill, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Vincent Forte, M.D., Christopher Tassin, Michael Forte, C. Louis Ray, Huey Himel, Jr., Mark Zaunbrecher, and Rusty Vice. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Tannerhill, Mikey Tannerhill, Nathan Forte, James Forte, John Forte, Nikolaus Vice, William Vice, and Jacob Vice.
The family would like to thank Jason Breaux, M.D., Andy Blalock, M.D., and the I.C.U. nursing staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center for their dedication and compassion given to Tom and our family during this difficult time.
Tom had a passion for the outdoors and was a Master Gardener. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to The American Red Cross.
