Odile C. Gaspard
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne, for Odile C. Gaspard, 98, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and the angels that escorted her home to Jesus on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 12:09 p.m. in the Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette.
Deacon Art Bakeler from St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Church New Cemetery in Rayne.
The visitation was held on Friday, September 22 at 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 a.m. A Rosary was recited on Friday at 6:30 in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. Visitation resumed on Saturday, September 23 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Ms. Odile worked at Trappey’s for many years. She also worked at Crowley Manufacturing and Rayne Manufacturing. She retired to care for her husband, Joseph A. Guidry. He had a long term illness. She later married Willis J. Gaspard. They were married for 23 years until he passed away in June 2015.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda and husband, Tom Brandon of Crowley, Sue and husband, Mike Prudhomme of Lafayette; two sons, Donald and wife, Gayle Guidry of Duson, Patrick and wife, Karen Guidry of Magnolia, TX.; twenty six grandchildren; forty three great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Ms. Gaspard was preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years, and the father of her children, Joseph A. Guidry; her second husband of 23 years, Willis J. Gaspard; one son, Dr. Lawrence J. Guidry; her grandsons, Donald “Donnie” Guidry and Steven Guidry; her parents, Leoval and Anaise “Tante Nie” Cormier; one brother, Ernest Cormier; two sisters, Ora Bennett and Ida Stelly.
Pallbearers for the services will be Lindsey Guidry, Donovan Brandon, Michael Prudhomme, II, Ryan “Scotty” Habetz, John Paul Guidry and Matthew Beverly. The Honorary Pallbearers for the services will be Edward Guidry, Michael David Guidry, Matthew Steven Guidry and Kevin Guidry.

Hilliard ‘TJ’ Leleux Hargrave
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Abshire Cemetery rural Kaplan for Hilliard “T.J.” Leleux Hargrave, 30, with family and friends present. Mr. Hargrave passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the St. Joseph Carpenter House Hospice in Lafayette, La.
T. J. is survived by his mother, Christine Hargrave of Mamou, La; brother, Kyle M. Breaux; sister-in-law, Krystal B. Breaux; nieces, Kyla-Lynn M. Breaux and Kascie N. Breaux all of Clarence La; maternal grandmother, Barbara A. Hargrave of East Brewton, Al; uncle, Mark E. Hargrave of Lafayette, La; great uncle, Ray Hargrave and great aunt, Eva Hargrave both of Rayne, La; father, Hilliard J. Leleux of Morse, La; grandmother, Grace M. Leleux of Lyons Point, La; uncles, Bruce J. Leleux and his wife, Kay of Kauffman, Tx and Edwin W. Leleux of Morse, La; aunt, Debbie Smith of Estherwood, La; brother, Howard J. Leleux of Lyons Point, La; sister, Cassandra Leleux of Lake Charles, La, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roland L. Hargrave; paternal grandfather, Hilliard E. Leleux and one uncle, Russell L. Smith.

Patricia “Pat” Breaux
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Patricia “Pat” Breaux, 66, who died Sept. 20, 2017, at Acadia General Hospital.
Fr. Jared Suire will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Mermentau.
Pat was the legal secretary for Privat and Regan Law Firm for 25 years. She then left to do what she loved the most, to be a grandmother. Pat was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Michael Breaux of Crowley; two daughters, Gretchen L. Whitaker and her husband Ryan of Houston, Texas, and Nicole L. Dore and her husband Alex of Crowley; one step-daughter, Aimee Breaux and her partner Drew Fabiano of St. Petersburg, Florida; one step-son, Eric Breaux and his wife Jaime of Lafayette; her father, Clyde Soileau of Sulphur; ten grandchildren, Cason Dore, Eli Whitaker, Louie Breaux, Grace Dore, Sydney Fabiano, Jake Whitaker, Ali Dore, Jack Fabiano, Eloise Breaux and Emerson Whitaker; and two sisters, Rebecca Soileau and Emily Soileau.
Pat is preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Davis; and two sisters, Barbara Leslie and Jean Pugh.

Paul Clifford Lavergne
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley for Paul Clifford Lavergne, 68, a proud Cajun patriot and veteran who passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife and son.
Born in Indian Bayou on May 9, 1949, Paul grew up and spent most of his life in Crowley. Paul graduated from Crowley High in 1967. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart.
While still in the Navy, Paul was stationed in Washington, D.C., where he met Paula Brown, whom he quickly fell in love with and married in 1971. After moving back to Crowley, Paul became an officer with the Crowley Police Department and completed a career there in 1988, retiring as a Captain. He continued a career in law enforcement as a Louisiana State Adult Probation & Parole Officer until 1999.
Paul and Paula had one son, Cliff. In 2004 they were blessed with a grandson, Victor Paul, whom he cherished.
Paul loved watching the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints play football, hunting and fishing, and all of the delicious food he and his family prepared. He loved music, singing and playing guitar since he was a teenager. Paul will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and all of the laughter he provided throughout his life.
Fr. Jason Vidrine, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home by the Immaculate Heart of Mary Ladies Altar Society. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Paul is survived by his wife of 46 years, Paula Brown Lavergne of Crowley; one son, Paul Clifford “Cliff” Lavergne II of Clarksville, Tennesee; and one grandson, Victor Paul Lavergne.
In addition to his immediate family, Paul is also survived by his sisters, Janelle (Lavergne) Pousson and her husband Willard of Rayne and Mona (Lavergne) Abshire and her husband Elwood of Rayne; nieces, Linda (Quebodeaux) Richardson, Terry Sue (Pousson) Richard, Lisa (Abshire) Stewart and Amanda (Abshire) Jackson; nephew, Lonnie Quebodeaux; and many cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ethel (Leger) Lavergne; his sister Leona (Lavergne) Quebodeaux and her husband Lawrence Quebodeaux Sr.; and his nephews, Lennie Quebodeaux and Lawrence Quebodeaux Jr.
Pallbearers will be officers of the Crowley Police Department.

Bertha Ewing Spaetgens
ROBERTS COVE - A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. in the St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove for Bertha Ewing Spaetgens, 94, who passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at 8:50 p.m. at the Camelot Place in Rayne.
Fr. Matthew Higginbotham, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, officiated for the services.
Burial was in the St. Leo IV Catholic Church Cemetery in Roberts Cove.
The family requested the visitation to be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. A Rosary was recited on Thursday at 7 o’clock in the evening in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation resumed on Friday, Sept. 22, at 9 a.m. until time of services.
Ms. Spaetgens was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Leo IV, Ladies Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan and Our Lady Queen of Peace Rosary Group for many years.
She enjoyed sewing for many people, especially her grandchildren, in the many years that she worked as a seamstress. She enjoyed her many chores at church, cleaning, washing the church linens, and all other jobs that came with it. She was a very devout Catholic who prayed a lot and enjoyed praying with and for others. She was a prayerful, faith-filled servant of God.
Her grandsons will be her pallbearers for the services.
Survivors include four daughters, Janie Wright of Roberts Cove, Bobbie Comeaux of Lafayette, Kris and husband Jon Martin of Roberts Cove and JoJo and husband Russ Gout of Dallas, Texas; one son, Bubba and wife Donna Leonards Spaetgens of Roberts Cove; one son-in-law, Harvey Schexnider of Lafayette; two brothers-in-law, Leo and wife Ruby Spaetgens of Roberts Cove, and Robert Davis of Jennings; one sister-in-law, Marie Broussard of Lafayette; 26 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Spaetgens was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Joseph Spaetgens Sr.; one daughter, Cathy Schexnider; three sons-in-law, Billy Wright, Allen Ray Comeaux and Michael Thibodeaux; one daughter-in-law, Mary Morgan Spaetgens; three sisters, Fern Hartwell, Sue Trahan and Aspize Davis; and three brothers, Henry Ewing, Stan LeLeux and Amay Fontenot.
