2017 annual Hoffpauir reunion cancelled

Update on The Indian Bayou Hoffpauir 2017 Family Reunoin:
In consideration of the recent devastating hurricane in Texas and parts of Louisiana, the Hoffpauir Family Association Board of Directors has decided to cancel the Hoffpauir Reunion for 2017. We don't want to defer any resources away from the recovery effort. We wish all our relatives/family members both near and far the best of luck in dealing with this recent catastrophe.

The Indian Bayou United Methodist Church and the Hoffpauir Family Association are praying for all the families affected and we know God will be watching over all involved.

Lucille Judice Trahan

RAYNE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille Judice Trahan, 91, of Rayne, will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne.
Father Kevin Bordelon, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 11 a.m.
Mrs. Trahan passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, in a Lafayette hospital.
A native of Lafayette Parish, Mrs. Trahan had lived in Rayne for many years. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mrs. Trahan enjoyed gardening and cooking, and she worked for many years as a sitter for many Rayne children. Her greatest joy in life was being with and caring for her family.
Survivors include her son, John Dale Trahan and wife Janet of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mrs. Trahan in death were her husband, Wilfred Joseph Trahan; daughter, Trudy Hodge; son-in-law, Andy Hodge; parents, John Judice Sr. and Emily Breaux Judice; sister, Edna Mae Grossie; brothers, John Judice Jr., Harry Judice, Edwin Judice, Wade Judice, Louis Judice, Lee Judice, David Judice and Jerome Judice; and great-grandson, Derek Peters.

Nita K. Faulk

A Mass of Christian Burial were held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Crowley for Nita K. Faulk, 76, who passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 8:14 a.m. at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Fr. Mikel A. Polson, Pastor of St. Michaels Catholic Church will be officiated for the services. Burial was in the Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery in Ebenezer.
At the family’s request, visitation was held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. Visitation resumed on Monday, August 28, at 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary was recited on Monday at 6 o’clock in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. Visitation resumed on Tuesday, August 29 at 8 a.m. until time of services.
Survivors include her husband of fifty one years, William “Bill” Faulk of Crowley; one daughter, Deborah A. and husband, Bradley Hanks of Morse; two sons, James B. and wife, Laurie Faulk of Crowley, William “Brent” Faulk of Houston, TX.; one twin sister, Rita K. and husband, Donald Legnion of Lake Charles; two sister-n-laws, Nettie Trahan Perry of Abbeville and Barbara Faulk Truax of Denham Springs; eight grandchildren, Corey and Casey Faulk, Hubert and Nicholas Guidry, Andrew Faulk, Jennifer Thibodeaux, Krysta and Landon Gary; eleven great-grandchildren, Conner, Alaynie, Peyton, Azalei Guidry, Caitlyn and Camron Faulk, Daxton Faulk, Lydia and Lillian Guidry, Adam and Kirsten Thibodeaux; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Nita was preceded in death by her parents, Alvoid “Boo Boo” and Lucille P. Kober; one sister, Barbara L. Viator.
Pall bearers for the services will be Kevin Legnion, Ronnie Legnion, Corey Faulk, Hubert Guidry, Nicholas Guidry and Casey Faulk.

Couple plans September wedding

Paul and Celeste Lalande of Church Point are announcing the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Claire Cathleen Lalande, to Dillon Shay Gatte of Rayne, son of Karla and Eric Thomas and Damon and Joan Gatte.
The engaged couple will be married on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, during a six-thirty evening Nuptial Mass at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Rayne.
Claire is the granddaughter of Philip and Dolores Z. Habetz of Roberts Cove, Daniel Lalande of Crowley and the late Andreé Lalande.
She is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in Crowley, attained a bachelor of science degree in nursing, and is currently employed by Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Lafayette as a pediatric registered nurse.
Dillon is the grandson of Jody Wilkerson of Jennings, Clifford Beard of Crowley, Yvonne Trammel of Basile and Rudy Gatte of Iota.
He is a graduate of Notre Dame HIgh School of Acadia Parish in Crowley and is presently employed by Prevost Electric Company.
Following their wedding, the couple plans to make their home in Church Point.

John Thomas Marsh Potts

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for John Thomas Marsh Potts, 76, who died Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10 p.m. in Crowley.
Rev. Lewis Morris, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate for the services. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mr. Potts was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Paine and Mildred Marsh Potts; one sister, Frances Louise Potts.

Bonnie Rae Reynolds Weatherby

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Bonnie Rae Reynolds Weatherby, 65, who died Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 1:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Bonnie was a native Oklahoman and a 33-year resident of Crowley. She held an Associate’s Degree in Computer Technology. She and her husband, Jim loved to travel. Her leisure enjoyment came from sewing, knitting, and quilting. She was a great supporter of her husband’s golf career and poker playing.
Rev. Pat Ulmet will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Monday from 10:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jim Weatherby of Crowley; one sister, Carolyn Gude and husband John of Grand Prairie, TX; one brother, Floyd Reynolds and wife Peggy of Wichita, KS.; her two loving dogs, Rex and Bandit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Revere and Betty Thompson Reynolds; her siblings, Paul Ray Reynolds, Mary Sutterfield, Ruby Reynolds, Larry Joe Reynolds and Jack Reynolds.
Pallbearers will be Ed Gibson, Wayne “Rock” Hebert, Jeff Nickel, Randy Nickel and Rev. Hardy Ulmet.

Melissa ‘Faye’ LeBlanc

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Melissa “Faye” LeBlanc, 53, who died Friday, August 25, 2017 in Morse.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to the time of service on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Johnson Hanks Cemetery in Morse.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cassie Lynn Gauthreaux and her husband Brett of Morse, and Heidi Renee LeBlanc and her husband Andrew of Morse; one son, Brandon Charles LeBlanc and his wife Danielle of Lafayette; one sister, Trudy L. Badeaux and her husband Kenneth of Morse; two brothers, Timothy J. LeBlanc and his wife Cindy of Crowley and Anthony W. LeBlanc of Crowley; and seven grandchildren, Mason Gauthreaux, Taylon Gauthreaux, Brycelon LeBlanc, Landon Gauthreaux, Addilon Gauthreaux, Brentlon LeBlanc, and Kohen LeBlanc.
Ms. LeBlanc is preceded in death by her parents Milton and Gloria Gautreaux LeBlanc; her brother Wayne P. LeBlanc; grandparents William and Edith Gautreaux and Claude and Mae LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Timothy LeBlanc, Anthony LeBlanc, Christopher Badeaux, Andrew LeBlanc, Brett Gauthreaux, and Brandon LeBlanc; honorary pallbearers will be Mason Gauthreaux, Taylon Gauthreaux, Brycelon LeBlanc, and Landon Gauthreaux.
